Following historical records the cultivation of the
olive tree along the coast and in the countryside of
Liguria was brought from the friars Benedettini in
XII-XIII century. In Liguria during the middle age
the most important centre was the village of Taggia
which gave its name to the most widespread olive
							tree variety in Liguria:

							the

							Taggiasca.
